Colourful Weddings

With the heat wave looking to stay around a bit longer than we all expected, our attentions have turned to sandals, maxi dresses and that very important task of keeping cool. Summer always has a way of taking our ordinary wardrobes and spinning them into these colourful, graphic, eye catching masterpieces, and we for one love this splash of colour! With graphic prints, bold colours and statement jewellery alike, where does this leave the summer bride? Do they ditch the traditional bridal colour palette and go for something a little brighter or stick to the traditional wedding hues? If you’re planning a summer wedding, we’ve got some jewellery perfect for your sunny Big Day.

Coloured diamonds have been on the rise this year, with more and more brides steering away from the traditional white diamond solitaire and opting for a coloured diamond or even a precious stone to mark the centrepiece of their engagement ring.  These brightly coloured stones are perfect for a summer wedding, with the vibrant nature of them forever being a reminder of your sun kissed wedding. Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson both showcased their lemon halo cluster engagement rings, which looked wonderful against their perfectly tanned skin. I’m a huge fan of the lemon diamond trend and when combined with a halo of glistening white diamonds, they really come to light.

Gwen Stefani famously wore a breathtaking, custom pink ombre gown by John Galliano for Dior. With Gwen’s individual style, it was to be expected she’d make a statement, and Gwen’s love of pink really was taken to new heights with this beautiful wedding dress. Pink is definitely a love it or hate it colour, and whether you’re brave enough to walk down the aisle in a gown like Gwen’s or not, a splash of feminine pink jewellery is sure to make your summer wedding flourish.

Coloured crystal or precious stones are a great way to give your bridal look a colourful twist. This stunning Swarovski pendant and earring set boasts delicate rose crystals framed with a white crystal twist setting. Worn with a low neckline wedding gown, this elegant set is sure to add a touch of subtle glamour to your special day.

Another favourite since the Royal wedding has to be sapphire. This regal stone has seen it’s popularity soar since the now Duchess of Cambridge – Catherine Middleton – wowed millions across the world with her beautiful sapphire and diamond ring, worn before her by Diana Princess of Wales. Many brides have incorporated this look into their own wedding day, either by adding a splash of blue to their bridal jewellery or inspiring their grooms-to-be to opt for a sapphire engagement ring.

This elegant sapphire and diamond ring is the perfect contemporary alternative to Kate’s more traditional engagement ring. Showcasing a sparkling, deep blue sapphire centrepiece, framed with a double halo of sapphires and diamonds, this 18ct white gold ring offers elegant glamour complete with that regal inspiration throughout.

For a luxury dash of colour, indulge in these peacock feather inspired earrings from esteemed fashion designer Badgley Mischka. Complete with a combination of amethyst, vivid green tsavorite and delicate champagne diamonds all pulled together to hang perfectly from a chandelier design, these striking earrings combined with a simplistic white wedding gown would be sure to give your wedding some summer sparkle.
