Autumn/Winter Must Haves

It’s hard to believe that it’s October already, but a new month calls for a new wardrobe and, now that the autumn season is well and truly upon us, it’s about time we have a look at what trends are set to replace our brightly coloured spring/summer florals. With coats, boots and scarves soon becoming a must-have addition to our wardrobes, we take a look at how best to accessorise with this season’s favourite trends.

Amidst the deep reds, warm oranges and rich golds typically seen in autumn, this year an unusual colour is emerging. A feminine palette of pink was prominent on the A/W ‘13 catwalks, and from pale, dusky pinks to bright, vivid pinks, there was no escaping this rosy bouquet. The item that favoured this colour amongst the fashion world was, surprisingly, the coat, with a wide selection of designers including Mulberry and Marc Jacobs sending their models down the runway wrapped up warm in pretty pink outerwear. To embrace this girlie colour, then this stunning bracelet from Tresor Paris is adorned in sparkling pink crystals and will give your look a trendy dash of feminine glamour.

Between rebellious runways and the Met Institute’s punk themed ‘Chaos to Couture’ ball, it seems as though spikes, leather, tartan and a lot of black are all set to hit our wardrobes this year. There is no doubt that Punk has returned for A/W, but that doesn’t mean you have to throw yourself in with ripped clothing and brightly coloured hair. The easiest way to achieve this look is with a staple leather piece of clothing and some sleek black accessories. This black chain link watch from Michael Kors is the perfect combination of chic and edgy.

Animal prints are a timeless trend that, from the looks of Burberry’s A/W ‘13 fashion show, will be continuing throughout the season; so don’t throw out your animal print favourites just yet. With clothes and accessories available in an assortment of prints - from classic tortoiseshell and leopard print to more fashion forward graphics such as giraffe and zebra - it is simple to achieve a stylish look to suit any taste. There are no longer rules in regards to matching prints, so for a modern take on this trend white not mix a giraffe print shirt with this statement faux fur leopard print watch exclusive to Ernest Jones from Coach.
