Lucet Mundi

When it comes to accessorising my summer look there is nothing I like better than having choices, which is why Lucet Mundi’s latest collection, ‘My Mundi’ is a must have for any trendsetter this season. The collection consists of three parts, all of which are completely interchangeable offering endless combinations. Creating your own ‘My Mundi’ necklace to suit your unique style couldn’t be easier and takes just three simple steps.
Step One:
Begin by selecting your locket. With two sizes available you have the option to go for a bold statement piece or perhaps a more subtle necklace for everyday wear. Not only can you choose a size, but you can select your colour too. Go for either a sleek silver tone locket or create a feminine look with the rose gold plated addition.  All of the lockets are reversible with one side set with crystals and the other engraved with ‘Lucet Mundi’ so it’s simple to transform your necklace from daytime sophistication to evening glamour. For a chic summer look start your ‘My Mundi’ off with this large locket in a warm rose gold hue and wear with its engraving on show.

Step Two:
The second step is the most simple of the three; selecting your chain. Made with sterling silver and plated with either rose gold or rhodium and available in three different lengths it is easy to create a fashion forward look. Choose this 30” rose gold plated chain for a contemporary bohemian inspired look or go for a 20” rose gold chain for sophisticated evening style.
If you’re feeling extra creative, why not team your rose gold plated locket with a sterling silver chain for a statement two-tone look.

Step Three:
Finally choose from Lucet Mundi’s stunning collection of coins to fill your locket with. You have the option to complete your necklace with two key styles; coloured crystal or cut out. The coins come in two sizes and a range of colours and designs. Simple to change around you can build a collection to suit any style or occasion. For the perfect finishing touch to your summer inspired necklace add this vibrant turquoise crystal coin to compliment your sun kissed look.

Explore Lucet Mundi’s stunning collection on Ernest Jones. Mix and match any of the three parts to create a ‘My Mundi’ that is completely individual and perfect for you.

From Flapper to Cannes...

With the anticipation finally over, The Great Gatsby was finally released last week. Not only did it make its silver screen debut, it opened the world famous Cannes Film Festival, and even the wet weather didn’t stop Hollywood’s finest stepping out onto the iconic red carpet to witness the upcoming best of the best in worldwide cinema.

You may remember that back in March with the release of the official trailer and cast photos, we blogged about the infamous Gatsby glamour with some of our favourite picks of vintage inspired jewellery sure to create a twenties look complete with a contemporary edge. This time we are looking at the style of the female leads of the most talked about film this year from their characters right through to their own red-carpet looks.

Carey Mulligan, the female lead of The Great Gatsby who plays the unconventional character of Daisy, wowed the crowds as she stepped out in a beautiful blush pink Dior gown. With a plunging V neckline, structured lines in the full skirt and the delicate straps of the dress, although simple, looked stunning on her pale complexion, with the subtle pink hue enhanced by a bright red lip.

Carey opted for sophisticated diamond jewellery to accessorise her gown, with drop earrings and a simple yet classic tennis bracelet to complete her red-carpet look. These intricately designed drop diamond earrings exude elegance and would be ideal for accessorising a formal look, or even a beautiful addition to your bridal jewellery on your wedding day. Their beautifully timeless feel also stays true to the Gatsby influence, perfect for any vintage fashion enthusiast.

Carey’s Cannes look was graceful, simple and reflected some of the elegant nature shown in Daisy’s flapper girl style. Extravagant pearls, vivid precious stones and sparkling diamonds were a must for any upper class woman in the 1920’s and ,at a time when denim was only worn by workmen, there was no exception for looking anything less than absolutely glamorous.

This art deco inspired diamond shaped pendant set on a string of freshwater pearls captures the essence of 20’s glamour in every aspect, making it ideal for re-creating your own vintage style.

Isla Fisher, who also stars in The Great Gatsby as Myrtle Wilson, wore a show-stopping red gown from Oscar De La Renta, with a bouquet lace sweetheart and full ruffled skirt.  The glamorous red-head accessorised her dress with a beautiful necklet full of vibrant coloured stones set in 18ct yellow gold. This bold yet elegant jewellery is representative of the classic style worn by upper class 1920’s women. Le Viani® is a beautiful choice for anyone looking to add some vintage sophistication to their look. This striking Strawberry Gold® ring with a large central quartz and diamond halo cluster is set on Chocolate Diamond® and amethyst embellished shoulders, exuding indulgent style to make for a truly Gatsby inspired cocktail ring.

Whilst diamonds, pearls and precious stones feature in a 1920’s look right through to Cannes red-carpet style, vintage inspired watches with a contemporary twist are also a must.

Indulge in Omega elegance with this diamond set rose gold bracelet watch from the Ladymatic collection. Complete with a diamond set bezel and contemporary, warming hues of rose gold, this eye-catching watch represents simplistic and classic style with a luxurious vintage feel.

Diamonds Are Forever

As we enter this year’s matrimonial season, it seems that Keira Knightley will be kicking it off amidst rumours that she is set to walk down a sun-soaked aisle in the stunning surroundings of the South of France this bank holiday weekend, to tie the knot with James Righton – definitely makes my plans seem a little less exciting! It isn’t rare for celebrities to sneak off to secluded locations to wed, or even completely surprise us by marrying in secret, leaving us only with the hope of getting a glimpse of that all important designer dress, or those luxurious rings we are so eager to see!

So with the sun shining and the distant sound of wedding bells in the air, we take a look at some of the latest trends in engagement and wedding rings, sure to add that extra dose of sparkle to your big day.

Tradition rules that the man chooses our engagement ring and fingers crossed it will be a ring that we will fall in love with. However if, like me, you’re a tad picky about what you will be wearing on your finger for the rest of your life, then dropping a few subtle hints on what would make your perfect ring can’t do any harm can it? I mean you have to make sure it’s going to match that dream wedding ring you already have in mind, right? Right!

Keira Knightley’s engagement ring is the epitome of elegance; a single brilliant cut diamond sits simply on a platinum band, giving the option to team with an equally classic plain band or perhaps something with a bit of sparkle. To achieve a Keira Knightly inspired timeless look, then this stunning solitaire from Leo Diamond is the perfect balance of simplicity and style.  With 66 carefully placed facets instead of the standard 58, a Leo diamond gives you that extra radiance and sparkle.

A classic solitaire isn’t for everybody, and even more so in the last year with the rise of vintage inspired engagement rings and the increasingly popular coloured diamonds.  A favourite amongst celebrities are the glamorous art-deco inspired statement rings from Hollywood designer Neil Lane. This white gold diamond cluster is adorned with every girl’s best friend; a glistening emerald cut diamond, surrounded by a halo of diamonds and finished off with diamond shoulders. Every engagement ring needs a wedding ring to compliment it perfectly and Neil Lane have a range of diamond set shaped wedding bands to frame your engagement ring for years to come. With a gentle square shaping at its centre, this wedding ring presents handcrafted couture and will make for an extravagant engagement counterpart.

For a contemporary twist on the traditional white diamond, why not choose a distinctive coloured diamond? This beautiful white gold bridal set features a radiant lemon diamond centrepiece framed with sparkling white diamonds. Unique and beautiful, ring would be ideal for a Summer engagement, to ensure a little piece of your sun-kissed engagement is always carried with you. I’m certainly thinking yellow may be the new white this matrimonial season!
