Iconic, Legendary, Gucci.

During the 1950’s, the fashion world was definitely ready for change. Christian Dior was leading the way in women’s fashion with the introduction of the A-Line skirt and feminine wear. These classy looks were a million miles away from the pre-war fashions woman had – for too long - been expected to wear. These new styles accented the woman’s body, instead of covering them up with traditional shawls. These massive transformations in the way woman were presenting themselves unlocked a door that led both men and women to what would become the liberation of the sixties. This key time in our history made it possible for Gucci to become known and cement itself as one of the most legendary luxurious fashion brands of our time.
Whether you own one of their beautiful lines or like me glare in envy at any one lucky enough to have one, you will be sure to recognise and adore the legendary GG logo. Those beautiful entwined G’s that grace many of the famous Gucci lines have most certainly become one of the most iconic logos in fashion.

From clothes to watches and of course their beautiful handbags, Gucci has well and truly established itself as one of the great luxury fashion houses of our time. Founded in Florence in 1921, Guccio Gucci found pride in developing relationships with the best craftsmen in Florence. Through, this nurture and development of these relationships, Gucci was able to create timeless pieces of luxury goods that were sold all over the world.

Hollywood’s finest helped catapult Gucci into the limelight in the 1960’s, with the likes of Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly all stepping out in style in these luxurious Italian goods. One of Gucci’s most iconic pieces, is of course the ‘Jackie-O’ shoulder bag which was named after Jackie Kennedy who was famously seen using the bag.

Gucci is still today one of the most luxurious fashion brands in the world, with A-List celebrities still being photographed wearing many of their lines. Gucci gained the trust and loyalty of many people in the 60’s by supporting and encouraging the need for expression. Finally people had more freedom and power to do as they wished with their money and woman had a new taste for the luxury and the glamorous. This support and encouragement combined with their classic yet beautiful designs, provided the solid foundations to cement Gucci as one of the most globally iconic and well loved designer brands of the 21st Century.

From PR to press

We had some very exciting news here at Ernest Jones HQ last week with the reveal of our very own PR Manager, Faye Lovenbury in Woman & Home magazine looking fabulous and working some of her favourite pieces from this season's collection.

In keeping with the trend for coloured diamonds, Faye wears a stunning Le Vian Chocolatier® ring. This beautiful strawberry gold diamond and quartz ring teamed with the cream body-con dress compliments the outfit perfectly by adding a flash of colour to a neutral palette, providing a sophisticated twist of interest.

A gold rush is also sweeping the nation, with many red carpet regulars dedicated to the new lease of life this traditional metal has been given. If you’re not quite sure how to wear it, why not steal Faye’s style by layering up simple gold bangles to give them a contemporary edge?

Faye wears two gold plated Amanda Wakeley Sparkle bracelets teamed with a classic two tone twist bangle. These glittering lines are a must have addition to your jewellery box, working transitionally between the seasons, shimmering in Summer and adding light and warmth through the darker and colder months.

The outfit is completed with a pair of Marco Bicego earrings, from the Jaipur Link collection. The gentle waved gold teamed with perfectly luminous diamonds add a touch of classic glamour and a healthy portion of Italian charm.
