New Year, Sale & S/S'13 trends!

It’s that time of year again, where Christmas is over and the New Year is just around the corner. I like to call this Chrimbo Limbo, where it’s just this lost useless space between over indulging and that oh, so familiar time to diet. With this, new thoughts of the way we look, feel and act are evaluated and I’m already stuck in a battle with myself on whether to dye my hair dark or go lighter; a decision that as a woman, should never be taken lightly!

With this in mind, it seems the right time to take a look at the exciting new trends we have to look forward to and have a rummage of those oh so tempting sales to bag a few fashionable favourites to rustle up a fresh new look as well as keeping your bank balance happy! As a self-proclaimed magpie, this is also the perfect opportunity to look at some of the best jewellery buys to accompany the fashion trends that we have recently seen on catwalks globally.

Fashion designers from around the world left us eager for more with the use of pastels, neon, graphics, crops and so much more and showed us that we will definitely be spoilt for choice when it comes to planning our spring/summer wardrobes next year.

The swinging sixties proved to be an inspiration for many designers and Monochrome was certainly the leader in this fashion pack with the likes of Marc Jacobs and Emporio Armani delving into this effortlessly stylish look. Combined with linear and square formations it’s safe to say this timeless trend has been catapulted into the 21st century with new bold and artistic interpretations.

What better way to bring monochrome chic into your wardrobe than with a little Amanda Wakeley elegance. Her stunning jewellery designs are sure to make a statement whilst adding a sleek edge to any outfit. This silver, onyx and diamond ring is the ideal way to bring this S/S13 trend into your jewellery box and not only this, it is also half price at the moment! This Armani bracelet also captures the monochrome trend in a beautifully understated way, making if great for adding this trend in a subtle yet striking way.

Designers such as Louis Vuitton and Viktor and Rolf covered the catwalks in beautiful embellishment, making a clear and bold statement that it is certainly not a one trick pony and is for more than just the party season. This trend is definitely the one that I am most excited about. I have been a huge fan of the studs and sequins adornment we saw on the A/W12 catwalks, and the fact that this is being carried through to next year is music to my ears! The detailing we will see going forward has more of a calming and almost iridescent effect to it, with beading being a firm favourite.

With this in mind what better embellishment for any Ernest Jones woman, than diamonds? It’s a well-known fact that diamonds are a girl’s best friend and I am certainly no exception. We have a selection of diamond rings and jewellery in our sale that will always stand the test of time by keeping up with any trends thrown their way. Did anyone see the absolutely stunning lemon diamond engagement ring which Kelly Clarkson proudly announced her engagement with? I am completely in ore of this ring and think this 18ct white gold yellow and white diamond ring demonstrates this ever popular trend of coloured stones perfectly. Pastels are a spring summer favourite, and this ring would be the best of friends with any of my pastel coloured wardrobe additions!

Ok, so that’s enough swooning over diamonds and designer clothes, it’s time for a little look for the men and at Ernest Jones we have an enviable selection of watches sure to make those last minutes in the count down to 2013 more stylish than ever. This Tag Heuer watch is sure to add a touch of sophistication to any look, with a sleek stainless steel bracelet, chronograph and date function.

So with a brief overview on next year’s looks, I hope I’ve got you eager to shop the latest trends or at least to be excited of what fashion enthused pieces of clothing and jewellery we will see over the next coming months.

Be sure to take a look at the Ernest Jones sale, and get a head start on those Spring/Summer trends

Diamonds, actually

With the first sightings of snow on the ground, the sparkling of Christmas lights that fill our streets, warm fires and cosy blankets, Winter has officially arrived and yes it is that time of year again to watch Love Actually. No doubt it will be on the television soon, but I cannot wait any longer and this week I will definitely be curled up on my sofa with some form of festive treat (or five) smiling joyfully at the moment Kiera Knightly is greeted at her front door with those longing words of love from her secret admirer. We all know the bit I’m talking about!

With Love Actually securely slotted into my schedule, I’m ready to embrace Christmas in all of it’s entirety. Christmas definitely brings out the best in us, and I’m sure we are all guilty of expressing unnecessary, over exaggerated affection to our friends/cats especially after a couple of glasses of champers! So with the mistletoe ready and waiting, the Love Actually DVD ready to bust out of its case, there’s one iconic declaration of love that needs to be explored and that is of course the diamond.

Here at Ernest Jones, we have a great selection of Christmas diamond promotions, with up to half price off rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings. With generous savings, these great finds are ideal for Christmas presents for any diamond loving girl in need of a dazzling best friend, and remember boys, diamonds are not just for Christmas!

This ring is one of my personal favourites and I definitely would not be complaining if this greeted me on Christmas morning! (Hint, hint). I am a huge fan of statement jewellery and this pave set diamond ring has definitely earned a place in my imaginary jewellery box this year. With five rows of glittering diamonds set into 18ct gold, this ring is sure to make you stand out from the crowd. I’d wear this with a plain black midi dress, skinny belt and let my jewellery do the talking. This ring is also definitely an excuse for the Gellish manicure I’ve been eyeing up over the last few weeks, because obviously with a ring that striking, I wouldn’t want my nails to get jealous would I?!

I’m definitely a stud kind of gal and these diamond studs are simple yet ooze elegance and sophistication. I’ve recently purchased my New Years Eve dress and opted for a nude skater option with delicate panel detailing. This feminine addition to my wardrobe would definitely appreciate these studs as a welcome pairing to my new years outfit.

This pendant is set to make a lot of people extremely happy. The diamond encrusted open heart diamond, is the ideal gift for loved ones and if you’re not quite prepared to do an Andrew Lincoln and knock on the door with a CD player and cards proclaiming your love, this necklace will definitely do the job aptly.

As the film says, ‘Love Actually is all around’ and these beautiful pieces of jewellery are an ideal way to show your love to someone special, whether they be a friend, family, partner or even a self treat.

All good love stories finish with a happy ending and that leaves us with the prospect of love and luck in the New Year. 2012 has been a year full of love and as the new year approaches and we look back on some of the inspiring celebrity weddings we have had this year, there’s no sign of the matrimonial ceremonies slowing down. With more inevitable dazzling celebrity engagement rings to soon swoon over as well as their ridiculously enviable gowns, I can’t wait to hear Cupid’s celeb love stories as well as some of your own.

For 24 hours only, shop online at Ernest Jones and receive a free silver bracelet worth £50! Ends midnight tonight! Terms and conditions apply.

Me and Mr Jones. . .

Shopping for myself has never been something I’ve struggled with. Come Christmas, my family all want a list of things I’d like but that I am not likely to treat myself to any time soon so this year I made it easy for them.  A couple of weeks ago I put together my wishlist of the Ernest Jones goodies I want to see piled under my tree on Christmas Day, but as Christmas is the season of goodwill, and there’s only 2 weeks until the big day, I now turn my attention to one of my favourite things about the season - buying for others.

My mum, like me, is a huge fan of emeralds. A couple of years ago for her 50th birthday I treated her to an emerald necklace, so this year I’m torn between keeping with the green theme or gifting her something from our Exclusive Amanda Wakeley collection. I know she’d love this Amanda Wakeley silver diamond & white ceramic knot bracelet which is delicate and minimalist without scrimping in the elegance stakes.

One of my sisters is always looking for a new charm to add to her bracelet, and so Chamilia is my go to brand of choice. I’ve opted for the Make a Wish bead which supports the work of the Make a Wish Foundation with Chamilia donating £12 from every bead sold to the charity. To compliment the ocean blue Swarovski element crystals of the Make a Wish bead, I’ve picked this stylish sterling silver love heart bead and this dark blue glitter Murano glass bead.

My other sister is coveting a pair of diamond studs and so I’ve selected our Christmas 9ct white gold diamond set earrings which are sure to add some sparkle to her jewellery box and a little bit of luxe to her obsessive vacuuming habits.

My stepfather is a gadget geek and earlier this year invested in an iPad which will be the perfect distraction for him on the 25th as I seize the remote while he’s not looking. So for him, I’m leaning towards the Ted Baker Dippie black & brown iPad case which is both sophisticated and contemporary.

My brothers in law will love this Ted Baker wallet in chocolate brown leather, while for my younger teenage cousin coming of age, I adore these impossibly quirky Simon Carter penguin cufflinks styled with Swarovski crystal elements and Mother of Pearl.

Watches for other halves are a fail safe option. Hugo Boss’ gift box includes a watch and a bottle of the house’s signature fragrance. But if your significant other has done enough to wind up on the good boy list, this timepiece from Ebel is the epitome of high end watch design.

Outside of Ernest Jones, for small somethings and stocking fillers, I am in love with Truffle Shuffle for iconic music and movie print tees and sweatshirts. Firebox is a favourite with Dave and I in the office where you can get absolutely anything from your instagram pictures printed to a replica batmobile.

And remember, today (Tuesday 11 December 2012) we’re offering free delivery on everything.  But if you miss out today, standard delivery is free on all orders over £100. To ensure Santa and his reindeer arrive on time make sure you take note of our last order dates.

Le Vian® Luxury

A couple of weeks ago, myself and Amy had the pleasure of seeing some of the luxurious Le Vian® rings at our Westfield White City store and of course we couldn’t resist trying them on!

Le Vian® is one of the most established jewellery houses in the world, with a prestigious following of celebrities as well as Royalty!

Their decadent range of jewellery includes the exclusive chocolate diamonds™  and although steeped in tradition, Le Vian® is modern and innovative and loved by Hollywood's elite including Hillary Swank and Halle Berry.

So straight form the hands of Hollywood to ours and it was safe to say me and Amy were eager to get these beautiful rings onto our primed and manicured hands. The precious stones and diamonds are truly beautiful, catching the light from all angles as rich colour oozes from them. These unique pieces of jewellery are the epitome of luxury and as soon as it was on my finger I felt every bit the Le Vian® princess.

It was ridiculously hard to choose a favourite but I managed to narrow it down to two. I adore the Strawberry gold collection and combined with the chocolate diamonds they complement each other perfectly.

The first one is little more subtle compared to some of the others, complete with a chocolate diamond solitaire and framed with delicate white diamonds all set into a lustrous strawberry gold setting, this ring lives up to the divine expectations of Le Vian® jewellery. Its subtle elegance makes it the perfect ring that can easily be worn on from day to night.

The next ring has definitely been added to my Christmas list and I can definitely say I believe in love at first sight after seeing this remarkable ring. This is sure to make a statement with a Quartz centre piece surrounded by white and chocolate diamonds finished off in the contemporary Strawberry gold. This bold ring would look absolutely stunning worn with an evening dress and the neutral colours of the ring are sure to add a splash of elegance to any look.

Amy’s favourite is the Le Vian 14ct white gold 1.43 carat diamond cluster ring. True to type, it is oversized and overstated sophistication, combining white gold and a cluster of diamonds in a rectangular formation, which looks equally perfect with an evening dress or paired down with jeans to add a twist of elegance to a dressed down night time look. A firm believer in self treats, Amy wears this confidently on her ring finger, but it looks equally at home as a cocktail ring, set to induce luxurious envy this festive season.

Effortlessly Timeless, Rotary Jura

Here at Ernest Jones we are excited to announce the new Rotary Jura website that is now live to purchase the brand new range of striking Les Originales Jura range of watches from Rotary

This sophisticated and beautifully structured collection features skeleton dials, which expose the precision movement in either the full dial or part dial formats. On the reverse, all case backs are Sapphire glass which allows an uninterrupted view of the movement in motion.

The Jura watches are all automatic, meaning they do not need winding as the movement of the wrist provides kinetic energy to keep them powered and your watch ticking to perfect time.

Rotary have 117 years of dedicated watch manufacturing and a commitment to advancing technologies, which has resulted in a truly exceptional collection of entirely Swiss made timepieces. The range comes with Rotary’s Waterproof standard and Lifetime Guarantee to ensure reliability and longevity of each timepiece.

These watches truly are timeless, although extremely sophisticated and elegant they each have a contemporary feel, perfect for the modern man who is looking for a watch that can be transformed from day to night.

This two tone skeleton bracelet watch is the perfect example. With exposed workings this watch is the ideal way to combine traditional workmanship with the contemporary style of the two tone bracelet. Whether worn with a suit to the office or with casual jeans and a t-shirt, this watch is sure to make a statement, showing off the engineering technology aswell as exhibiting modern style.

This men’s skeleton dial black leather strap watch, shows us a small part of the exposed workings, with a smart black strap and blacked out dial and bezel. This watch is, again equally as modern as it is traditional. The leather strap adds a touch of sophistication whereas the blacked out dial and gold detailing adds a dramatic edge.
